I am NOT a patch collector but I picked up a small collection of stuff belonging to the 3rd and then the 6th marines. He landed on Iwo on day 2, then landed on Okinawa. In the collection was his Ka-bar a Japanese flag he captured and other personal items. It also had these patches:

So can anyone tell me what these are? Rarity? Value?? (sorry for the sideways pics I fixed them on photobucket, but they still show up sideways!)

3rd Amphib Corps and 6th MARDIV patches.

I just noticed you said he was in the "3rd and then the 6th marines", were you basing that on the 3rd Amphib corps patch?

 

The 3rd MARDIV is entirely different.

I guess I'm not sure. Ha. the 6th patch has definately been worn on a uniform.
