Here are some photos of my father in laws wool serge shade 33 jacket , with armor school patch and spec5 rank from early 50's. Just was able to get this a year ago from him as he was moving into a apartment and no more room.

Great stuff Renegade, if I can point out just two things, you must switch the collar discs, the U.S. goes on the right collar, with the Armored one going on the left, plus that name tag will go on the left side, on the pocket flap.

Yellow piping denotes (armored) cavalry.

Armor used to be green/white piping.

Since he was in the armor school, the yellow piping would actually make sense too.

Yellow has been used for Armour since the Armour branch and Cavalry were combined to make one branch in 1950. The insignia also changed from the side view of a tank to the front view on crossed sabers. Green and white was the colour before 1950 this uniform is from the late 1950s.
