This uniform was going to be thrown away by the grand daughter. The cleaner who had been instructed to throw it in the dumpster couldn't find it within himself to do it as his father served on a carrier during WW II. He gave it to me and I've had it for a while and will probably be looking for a new home for it as I currently have it stored in my cellar and absolutely no place else to display or store it. A navy dress jumper, pants and donald duck hat with a PT boat patch, loosely basted on and came unattached and 5 half inch ribbon bars will also be looking for a new home as well. I have an idea who that might have belonged to. Also in Mass. So for now pics of the 13th Air Corps uniform.

I think its because they have no clue how difficult it was for people back in the forties, fifties, etc. What s worse is because they have had everything handed to them, they do not care. It s all about them. Please note not all of our young people today are like that, those who work for what they want and who serve bravely their country are exceptions and to these we hope to hand our future to.

Just remember if you go back and read the commentary of the time, the same things were being said of the kids who became the 'greatest generation.' Understand that same generation scrapped Pearl Harbor battleships, tore up combat vet B17s and did everything they could to put the war behind them. Just because some of us have made it our passion doesn't mean that everyone has. The argument can easily be made that it's just 'stuff' with no value other then what some of us attach to it.

 

I remember well as a little kid my mom's uncle showing me the uniforms and souviners he brought home from WW2. He ended up giving them all to the neighborhood kids who wore them out playing with them.
