In recognition of the landings at Bougainville this month, I thought I was share my Raider ID'ed officer's Ka-Bar. See below the link to his Arlington tribute to Brig. General Jay W. Hubbard. I have since had a family member verify the authenticity of the Ka-Bar. Then Lt. Hubbard landed with the 2nd Raiders at Bougainville, then Guam, and Okinawa as CO of the 4th division's weapons company. Gen. Hubbard was a three war US Marine! See his story below!

From Private to sergeant on battleship Mississippi 1940-42 in Pacific, Caribbean and North Atlantic. As infantry lieutenant during WW II, served as a platoon leader in 2d Marine Raider Battalion on Bougainville operation, then as platoon leader in Weapons Company, 4th Marine Regiment for Emirau and Guam operations and company executive officer in Okinawa campaign.

This Raider decal also came from Hubbard's collection. It has yellowed in places.

Other items from the collection that I did not get. I found out that one of his brothers sold these items that were given to him by Hubbard.

Greetings Mike, you may want to edit your post as you mention “Rangers” in the topic and in your descriptions. I believe you meant “Raiders” while similar in mission, they definitely are two different organizations from two separate services. Either case thank you for sharing your pictures with us.

Congratulation on having such a great piece in your collection. May I suggest that you wipe down the metal parts of the knife with an oily rag? Use a good quality lubricant. Removing the superficial rust will not take away anything from the knife, except...rust.
