At one time I had one of the orange armbands with the 4 stencilled on it.

Not wearing uniforms could also cause issues in my opinion.They may think your an intelligence operative and not look to kindly on your being in the area either

 

 

Well, the one thing I failed to consider was that even though a late date, the war was still going on so that reinforces your point.

As promised here are the 2 flags, sorry It took so long but they were not where I thought they were.

 

The first one Is the standard type like the one from Larry White, the other Is a locally made piece, fabricated from silk with a black 4 block printed on one side.

I saw it on eBay and was skeptical at first. But after looking it over about 5 times I came around to thinking it was authentic. This is about as rare as uniforms get from the Vietnam era... I'd seen period photos, but this is the first I've ever seen come up for sale.

 

There were two of these shirts for sale at the SOS last FEB. I didn't like the "L" being lower case when the rest of the name tape was in upper case. I could not tell by the images but are the orange parts painted or made of a sewn on cotton panel? Also, are the letters painted or embroidered?

by the way O, what fabric is on the ERDL jacket you have? looks a bit more nylon based that what appears on the others.

 

also i wonder if the fabric that the flags Guy posted are similar to what was used on the JJs

Could it be the same piece of cloth, used as armbands, that are visible on those photos taken in March 1973 at Tan Son Nhut Airbase, and worn by North Vietnamese officers?
