July 29, 201213 yr #1 Hi all, during my last trip to Norway I found these two belts. Both are WW2 but I am not sure what type (my guess is they are M1937 ???). One is british made, I suspect, because of the 'arrow'-mark that I know is on may british items. Both are painted white on one side. Does anyone know if this was common practice in WW2 for MP-belts? Or are they painted white for another reason? Are these US worn belts?? Should I try to remove the white paint, or not? Here's a picture of the two belts. Both have the same buckle-type, the arrow-stamped belt has two extra things on the back side. Top one is the one of which I am sure that it's british made. (^ indicates the arrow) It is stamped "S" and underneath that: "M.W.&S.Ltd1944^" and "^80" (^ indicates the arrow) Bottom-one is stamped "Z.L.&T.Ltd1942" and something underneath that which I cannot read... Don't know if this one is US or british made... Here's the difference in buckle (back-construction): the 1944 has metal, the 1942 has no metal. Thanks for any comments / replies, Regards, Bocage.
July 29, 201213 yr #2 Both are typical Brit belts painted/blancoed white.As you say MP or possible just parade use.Not US.
July 29, 201213 yr #3 Both British for sure.The bottom one is slightly more scarce than the top one.Thats because its an 'economy' type made to simplify production and save on brass.I'd leave as is personally..
