July 23, 201214 yr #1 94 Years ago on 19 July 1918 a 27 year old Captain gave his life leading his company in combat near Chezy France. According to his draft registration card this tall young man of medium build with blue gray eyes and brown hair had been employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company in the spring of 1917 but was one of the first young men to sign up for the selective service system in June 1917. This man with no prior military service must have shown a remarkable talent for leading men for 13 short months later he was leading men in desperate combat on the western front. The Citation that was sent to CPT McCall Mother for his Posthumous Distinguished Service Cross in March 1919 says it all. Rest In Peace Forever Young Soldier :salute: De Oppresso Liber Strength and Honor John
