May 29, 201214 yr #1 Just got an e-mail that Bob Slaughter has passed away. Local news story here: Bob Slaughter has passed away Very very sad, he was a huge part of creating the National D-Day memorial. I had the great honor of meeting him once.
May 29, 201214 yr #2 Yes, very sad to hear this, hits home with me due to his 116th service connection. Bob was a very visible voice on many levels for spreading the history of the Normandy Invasion, a Citizen Soldier all the way. RIP and Ever Forward.

May 29, 201214 yr #6 that is sad, all I can say is I was lucky enough to meet Bob in Normandy way back in '94, a great man. He'll be missed by the 29th community on both sides of the ocean

May 30, 201214 yr #13 A sad day for sure! Bob Slaughter was one of the great figure of the 29th. He also had trained with the 29th Rangers. I am glad to have met such a great man and hero, years ago! RIP, You'll be missed. Yannick
