WWII USMC Grouping 4th Marine Div.

Hello,

I just acquired this USMC Grouping over the weekend and haven’t done any research yet. All I can tell you is the older gentleman I got this from purchased it direct from the vet himself in the 70’s who was his neighbor at the time.

The grouping includes the

• footlocker,

• Alpha uniform with cover and both the green and tan covers for the frame.

• The Heavy overcoat,

• Two belts.

• Two USMC marked wool blankets

• Steel plated bible with pictures kept inside it.

• Other misc pictures

• Spare buttons

• VFW 32nd Encampment Dept of Ohio medal

• Going back to civilian life booklet

• Larger brass belt buckle?

All the Uniform parts are named. The USMC presidential ribbon looks custom or is that normal?

All comments are welcome.

I look forward to researching this Marine.

I will post plety of pics. Sorry for some poor pics, had to use the flash and it's not working out so hot.

Thanks

Troy

A moment in time of a Marine in that footlocker. We can only imagine the times he grasped that bible and peered inside. Very touching, and though provoking. Thanks for sharing, and please keep us up to date on your research.

Thanks guys!! Yes the bible must have been with him every step. Very rough condition, rusted etc. The Metal plate has "May God Bless You" inscribed on the front but very faint.

I just found one more picture in the bible. I wonder if this is him with some close friends or maybe brothers standing around a campfire?

Thank you!

Can anyone tell me if the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon is an upgraded version??

#20

That is a very nice group and as Ron stated, BS and PH combination is really cool! Looks like he probably made them all if not nearly all with the 4th Division; Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo. Congrats.

Sweet! Finding unmolested truck groups are increasingly difficult!
