hi guys..please that a look at this one on e-bay and give me your views please..looks good to me but would really like a few other opinions please.

nice looking knife,not a repro just have not seen the thick red spacer at the end of the pommel as solid as this,have seen them with black spacers in between..

roller skate straps used as leg ties.. ..could be right..rollfast where around late 30s early 40s..

Due to the crappy pics I really can't say for sure WHAT it is.....but I can say what it is NOT. And it's NOT a "1st generation" Marine KA-BAR. The very first sentence in the description set alarm bells ringing in my head. Pinned pommel and rectangular tang are WRONG. And the thick red spacer at pommel is odd but KA-BAR occasionally made up an oddball so I can't say for sure about that feature. And the guard looks all wrong for a "1st gen". I can say for sure that the scabbard is not the original.....may not even be WW2 vintage....at the very least it's been re-dyed. Wish the seller had included pics of the pommel showing tang staking and I'd like to be able to confirm that it has a pinned pommel but a bit late in the auction to get questions answered.

thanks greg ....thin butt, rectangular tang held with pin...thats what got got me thinking something wasnt right added with red spacers....have asked the seller for pictures of the pommel..we will see if he gets back to me...could be a knock up using red spacers from another knife or possable the pommel and guard spacers have been dyed red.. ..we all know how much a good 1st gen can fetch in todays market..ditto your comment on the scabard greg,as you say its not the original to early ka-bars.

several years ago I sold a salty example with replacement scabbard on ebay and as I recall it went for over $400. You just don't see these for sale much anymore and the ones I see at shows are "messed with". That one you're looking at on ebay worries me.l...especially it having allleged raider provenance

Definitely not early 1943 factory original. Knife may be a legit vet used piece but it is not a 1st gen KA-BAR.
