Does anyone have any good photos of Alice Gear (possibly in conjunction with MOLLE gear also) in use in Iraq/Afghanistan?

Although not relating to either of your requests...here are a couple of images that I have always been fond of. The images are of Marines at Camp Pendleton in 2004. The Marine at the far left (as well as the Marine next to him) have nylon Limited Procurement Type water canteen covers (with plastic snap fasteners). Nearly 35 year old water canteen covers being used in conjunction with the "hi speed low drag" mess.

Very nice pictures! I hoping to throw together a transitional rig, so I'll post it up if it's done soon.

I used ALIVE style canteen pouches until 2008...though around 2006 the ILBE models were available if you wanted to wait for hours in the CIF line to make the exchange. With my deployment tempo back then I didn't make the swap.

 

Parris Island still issues recruits the old ALICE gear...canteen covers, buttpacks, mag pouches...I'm sure MCRD San Diego does likewise, but I haven't been there to confirm

chris, molle 1 (the one pictured with the plastic ball and socket on the back) didn't have provision for a canteen carrier (which was produced with molle 2), it was meant to be used with older canteen covers.

speaking of m67, did you ever saw this one?

generally speaking you can see alice/LBVs (non modular and commercial items) worn over more modern armor since kosovo involvements, to circa 2004. Then it became rarer and rarer, today you can see a canteen cover here, an alice pack there, but these are the exception to the rule.

 

i always liked this one, an Asymmetric Warfare Group soldier wearing a complete alice webbing of recent manufacture the shade of green changed to a less bright one.

 

taucco, exactly what I was looking for in the last photo, so ALICE is accurate for that period in the war (nice!). I actually prefer to use some ALICE components, while also using some MOLLE gear also (I actually use this stuff for the range and such, I don't just hang them up). Thanks for all the help everyone!

Wow M67 suspenders and M67 20rnd mag pouches. That's pretty funny, can't believe that was issued as a set. 60's era web belt to top it off.

 

Might explain why I've found multiple well used M67 20rnd pouches at surplus stores in the past few years.

 

Edit: Is that an M79 grenade launcher in the right corner???

Yes, it is. I've seen those before in Iraq/Afghanistan back in about 2005, but nothing recently.

Nice images,  may i ask what kind of vest they are wearing,  MARPAT woodland is mixing good with the older style woodland.

Is the MARPAT woodland more used in country then overseas most images i can find are training and combined with Tan chestrigs gear. Thank you
