Question About Vietnam Junk Force Beret

I recently picked up this junk force beret. Most of the photos I have seen have a red background behind the insignia on the beret. What does the green background represent on my example?? Thanks, Mike

the beret looks legit, but usually JF members wore the badge in the the right side like the vietnamese, and usually the badge had red backing instead of green, other advanced Navy collector will probably help you better than me

Simple answer:  Red was worn by officers, green by enlisted.

Copran is correct in that the insignia was worn on the right side.

I proudly wore this beret (with green) from Feb. '68 to Jan. '70 with the Third Coastal Zone Advisory Group headquartered out of Cat Lo.  The Third Coastal Zone basically covered the same area as III Corps with minor differences.  The Mekong Delta for the most part.
