August 29, 201114 yr #1 Hi all,I have had these patches for a long time,I bought them all from the same person. There are two task force 77 patches, one says Airborne A-220 Flight on it,the other is a Task Force 77 7th Fleet patch, and the third is a Screaming Eagle Airborne patch that says only Spec A-220 on it. I have never been able to find out anything about them,if anyone knows anything, please let me know. Thanks!
August 29, 201114 yr #6 At first I thought your middle patch had a chance of being legit. But the more I look at all three of these, these look like the kind of fashion items that decorate flight jackets made for kids. That said, CTF77 would be Carrier Strike Force 77 (probably Carrier Task Force in ealrier days), part of Carrier Group 5. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/age...avy/cargru5.htm And this looks to be a history of CTF77 from the Vietnam period: http://www.history.navy.mil/colloquia/cch4b.htm There appears to have been an A-220 A Team Special Forces detachment during Vietnam. http://www.specialforcesbooks.com/A220.htm

The first and third are made in the style that reminds me of German made patches,or possibly Korean(?) The second one has gauze on the back of it,and looks Asian made. If they were made for a childs coat, then they would have been sewn on at one point, and these have'nt been sewed to anything that I can see. But I do agree with you,the construction of the first and third ones' are different from what I'm used to seeing. I also seem to vaguely remember reading something about Spec A-220,but thought it was to do about the Korean war.Just can't remember!

The white one might be good... some of the stuff coming out of the PI can look kind of funky. But I think the other two are fantasy items, until proven otherwise.
