Al,

I used to collect license plates and have quite a few. Most states issue them....Purple Heart, Ex-Prisoner of War, Medal of Honor, etc. Here in Alabama we have several different ones, including ones for campaign medals for WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, etc. There are also National Guard plates for just about every state....I think there are 3 or 4 states that don't issue a NG plate. Some of them are very nice. thumbsup.gif

I don't collect them but have seen many in use. I have only seen one Medal Of Honor plate. Probably the neatest one I have seen was a North Carolina plate on a car parked outside the Special Forces Museum at Ft Bragg. It was MACV SOG.

Cool....I remember seeing "LRRP" when I was in Northern Virginia. Some folks can get pretty creative with them.

I broke down and got the PH plates, and I'll tell you...have NEVER gotten a speeding ticket! It's always a warning for this guy! haha

*Trivia - MOH recipient Jack Lucas, who is a friend of mine (Maybe some of you who were at the SOS last year saw me with him at his table there) has MOH license plate on the back and a PH plate on the front of his truck. I didn't ask him why the different plates, but I doubt anyone would question him!

Shrapneldude,

I wanted to share my license plate and the gentleman who gave it to me.

His name is Bob Gruber who served with my Uncle in the CBI. SGT Bob was a radar mechanic overseas in China from Jan. 44-Oct. 45 earning the Air Medal with the 27th Troop Carrier SQ. with the 14th AF (flying tigers).

In 04 I went to a reunion in Washington DC to meet some of these guys who flew with my Uncle and I met Bob and 20 other original members. I found out Bob lived just 10 miles form my place of work.

We became good friends and I did what ever I could to help him in his Daly life, almost wheelchair bound.

One year ago he moved to Florida to be closer to family and in the move he donated some of his household items and war memorabilia. Dog tags included.

With the license plate he also gave me the car it was attached too. A 1990 Lincoln Mark 7 which sits in my garage.

We keep in contact all the time and he met me in Nashville for our latest reunion in Oct..

Thank you for the thread,

Gift from Harry Traynor (years ago).

It used to be on his truck.
