June 21, 201115 yr Author #79 The following two dates June 25 & 26 are quite tragic, both men are from Georgia, they died within a day of each other, served in the same unit and their service numbers are only eleven numbers apart, it's possible that both these men would have known each other, attended the same schools or lived close to one another.

July 22, 201114 yr #92 Hi Ken,long time no see, i appreciate as an ex soldier the respect.....your showing to our allies...i too think of how far these very young men came to these shores and thought will i ever see home again. i remember when we stood above the cliffs and looked down onto the beach ( which was still to dangerous to visit) and thought of the sacrifice these men and women made. Keep up the good work......and for gods sake look after yourself you plonka!! Regards col

August 15, 201114 yr #95 Many Americans, forum members, or relatives of US servicemen and women that died in Europe during WWII will never get to visit the cemetery at Colleville sur Mer - Omaha beach, Normandy. Sixty-seven years on an June once again approaches I would like to pay tribute daily with some of the grave headstones of service personnel that died here in Europe during the month of June 1944. " Let us remember their sacrifices ". Well done! Cheers, Bill

Cheers, Bill Hi Bill, thanks for your thoughts, I am presently looking into doing this again for 2014, the 70th remembrance year, it's going to take a while to assemble as I have 9.000 headstones to look at and find dates, variation of units, photographs and record the details. I hope forum members will take a look again in June when I will post daily reports. ken
