Found this at the flea market yesterday.  About the same size as a "normal" chevron.  Has an elastic band on the reverse, so a kid can wear it on the arm.

 Based on its construction, it correctly dates from the late 1950's - when the Phil Silvers Show ran.  One of my favorites shows

I've never seen one before.
