Don’t recall if I already posted these matches on not:

 

 

These came in the “Accessory Pack” (also called a “Comfort Pack”) in the Vietnam era C-Rations (technically, they were “Meals, Combat, Individual”). And they were one of the reasons everyone had to purchase a lighter. I think these matches only worked perhaps 50% of the time.

Recently I became aware of the same lighter on eBay, but with the wording in Vietnamese:

 

 

Unfortunately, I don’t think that this is an authentic President Thieu lighter. Here’s the Vietnamese version I found on Wordpress:

 

 

I think you can see a major difference in quality between the two lighters, especially with the central seal as well as the overall engraving quality. I believe this last/bottom version is an authentic one.

You guys are obviously the SME's on lighters!  Any insight on this "Buyrite" Americal Division lighter?  I have had it for probably 30+ years.   Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Looks like an authentic period example. I don't recall seeing a "BUYRITE" before which adds extra interest. Probably Japanese-made. Thanks for posting!
