Johan Willaert Posted April 6, 2007 Author #3 Posted April 6, 2007 Nice jacket, Jim! Do the DI's have the motto?
Jim Baker Posted April 6, 2007 #4 Posted April 6, 2007 Nice jacket, Jim! Do the DI's have the motto? Yes Sir, they do. I wrangled this one away from a member here, so you have seen it before I think. BTW, you have some very nice Ike's. I'm enjoying your threads very much. I really like the 67th. I tried to pick one up off eBay not long ago but got beat out. Thank you for sharing these.
Johan Willaert Posted April 6, 2007 Author #5 Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks Jim, Do you know when the DI's with motto were introduced?
Jim Baker Posted April 6, 2007 #6 Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks Jim, Do you know when the DI's with motto were introduced? It seems like I was told once, but don't remember. I also have one without the motto that came with the jacket.
DM1975 Posted April 25, 2007 #7 Posted April 25, 2007 I like that jacket alot. If you ever get ready to sell it let me know. I went to war twice with the 41st Infantry Regiment so it holds a special place with me. Straight and Stalwart.
Dave Posted April 25, 2007 #8 Posted April 25, 2007 Here's one I once owned. It came out of an estate sale. The fun part was the extra insignia - I think I got just as much out of the spare insignia bits than I did the Ike... go figure!
Dave Posted April 25, 2007 #9 Posted April 25, 2007 And a four pocket this time. I thought they had phased out all the four pockets by the time they returned home, but I guess not.
Dave Posted April 25, 2007 #10 Posted April 25, 2007 Just found pics of another (forgot about this one!)
Jim Baker Posted April 25, 2007 #11 Posted April 25, 2007 Dave, Are all of these gone now?? I noticed the one in post 8 looks like it has an air medal?? Is that right?? Damn nice jackets!!
Johan Willaert Posted April 25, 2007 Author #12 Posted April 25, 2007 Artillery Officers that worked as Forawrd Observers from the Piper Aircraft were eligable for an AM when appropriate... I have a uniform from a Lt of the 283rd FA, with an AM too...
mireks Posted April 25, 2007 #13 Posted April 25, 2007 Hello guys, well, it is not just Ike jacket, but I am sure it is nice enough to present it here. Nice named officers tunic and breeches both made by Luxenberg, WWI and WWII service, 2nd AD patch on felt, early style of armored colar devices Mirek
Jim Baker Posted April 25, 2007 #14 Posted April 25, 2007 Mireks, THAT is one sweet jacket!! VERY nice. If it ever needs a new home........
mireks Posted April 25, 2007 #15 Posted April 25, 2007 Hello Jim, I can see, you are from Lakewood CO. I am often travelling to Denver and visiting my friends collecting USAAF stuff and preserving the WWI collection at Platteville airfield. I was there in February and will be there in June or July again. Is it possible to visit you and see your collection? Mirek
Jim Baker Posted April 28, 2007 #16 Posted April 28, 2007 Hello Jim,I can see, you are from Lakewood CO. I am often travelling to Denver and visiting my friends collecting USAAF stuff and preserving the WWI collection at Platteville airfield. I was there in February and will be there in June or July again. Is it possible to visit you and see your collection? Mirek My collection can be viewed in about one photograph!! Not much here really, but if you wish to see it, you are welcome. That group in Platteville, are those some of the guys from Wings Over the Rockies? Do they have a repro Focker Tri-plane? If so, do you know Stephen Lawson? He was big into that group for a while.
36-tex Posted April 29, 2007 #19 Posted April 29, 2007 Korean era fatigue shirt, different person than Ike owner. German made 2nd patch? It has a lime green border.
Jim Baker Posted May 2, 2007 #20 Posted May 2, 2007 Tex, Nice jacket. There are a lot of nice Ike's here.
Bob M Posted June 24, 2007 #21 Posted June 24, 2007 Maybe an strange question, but does anyhave have, or knows where it is, the Jacket of Kenneth A. Little? He was in de 2nd. Armored Division, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment. ASN: 36786076 Bob
Jim Baker Posted June 24, 2007 #22 Posted June 24, 2007 I forgot about this thread. Here's a new one....
Jim Baker Posted July 29, 2007 #23 Posted July 29, 2007 I've been looking over the Ike I posted above and have a few questions. Are the decorations on this Ike consistent with an infantryman of the 41st Armored Infantry Regiment? The arrowhead is OK, but I couldn't find anything on the 3 Presidential Unit Citations? I have one 41st Ike with a PUC, but no OLC on it. My other Ike does not have the Belgian Fourragère, but from what I have read, it was awarded to the 41st. And, would he not have been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge?? Thanks for any assistance.
DM1975 Posted July 29, 2007 #24 Posted July 29, 2007 I can say this, I was in the 41st Infantry Regement and we were only authorized 2 PUC's IIRC...
Guest Photographer Posted July 30, 2007 #25 Posted July 30, 2007 WOW guys... I really really like the WWII tunics.... Makes me feel small with my collection.
