Hollywood Patches # 2

I thought this might be a fun topic, unlike willysbm44 popular earlier topic on faux, phony, or goof ball Hollywood military patches that were found, this one we can show shoulder patches for legitimate units that were represented in the various War and Historical films down through the years.

First up, the 12th Air Force as worn by Frankie, in the 1965 movie Von Ryans Express.

YOU'LL HAVE YOUR IRON CROSS NOW VON RYAN !

The 69th ID patch was very prominent in the "Phil Silvers Show" aka "Bilko"...clearly visible here on Corporal Henshaw's shirt.

The Duke in "The Longest Day". (Almost all the AIRBORNE arcs in this movie are way too high!)

The worst patch error....ever...is in the colourised version of the movie. The 29th ID patch is blue & red! :w00t:

Cliff Robertson- Sgt Edward Baxter 9th Infantry Division and Red Buttons- Pfc Harry Devine 4th Infantry Division in the 1965 movie Up from the Beach, in both photos the men are wearing the M43 Field Jacket not the accurate M41 which was the type worn on D-Day and thoughout the Normandy Campaign. The one with Robertson/Sgt Baxter by himself we see what appears to be those Green chevrons on Green wool types, with both the 9th Division patch Robertson is wearing and the 4th Division patch Buttons is wearing, appear to be non standard types both being on wool.

And if you look closely while watching the film, are Yellow on Black not the correct White on Blue.

Maybe in the original the "29th Division patch" was actually this one, with the colorization being accurate :P

Now, if I can ever find the Hawaiian Department patch that was worn in Battlestar Galactica 78, I will be happy. But for now, we have SCARWAF in space.....

The Duke and actor Edward Faulkner as Colonel Kirby and his right hand man Captain Mc Daniel, from the Green Berets. On the Khaki uniforms if you may recall Kirby wears a MACV combat patch while Mc Daniel the 24th Infantry Division for service in the Korean War.
