. . Hi Old Dude, Aerial bridge and Steve, yes the old infamous suicide doors, not in much use these days . . . . . . . . A Ford flathead V8 called in at the Longest Yarn display the owner currently has it for sale he said it was a genuine 1940 manufactured, and wanted a negotiable 15,000 for it, and straight from the seller that would be without any auction fees etc. At the same auction house recently a straight-eight Pontiac came up for auction, I WAS interested BUT have no garage space available, it started at 15,000 and received no bids !!!!! It later sold privately and is based around the Ste Mere Eglise area. No it's not a siren it's the same kind of blackout lamp seen on the wing of a Jeep, however it appears to be a late / post war version with screwed side clips. Thanks Steve, yes it's a post war model as most production ceased during the war then it's difficult to get any actual war period models. There was a beautiful Nash pick-up truck for sale a couple of years ago in the UK, I believe they were only made about 1946 either for the factory itself or Nash distributors and not sold commercially, sadly since Brexit then that would have had import duties and taxes added to it, without ANY guarantee of getting it registered in France if it didn't conform to French safety standards. Many people who moved to France , sadly myself included, had to ship vehicles back to the UK and sell when they were refused registration here. Norman D. It’s legit. Nobody makes that color pattern. Great example 👍 -

Hi, I am by far no expert (especially not on helmet covers), but I thought, I would pitch in. The different colors can maybe be explained by different manufacturing runs. Maybe one roll of fabric ended and the new one was a bit darker, but as camouflage is camouflage to the manufacturers, they just finished the cover (started with the old fabric) with the new one. This might be more visible on this example, as it looks to be almost brand new. If it had been used, maybe the difference in shade would have been less obvious? It does not look like a repro to me from my limited knowledge standpoint. I would love to hear some more knowledgeable people chime in :) Cheers, Jules -

I've had this civil defense helmet from the WW2 era for quite some time now, and I think it's about time I replace the old, broken chin strap. I've looked everywhere online, and I cannot find a website selling reproductions or even listings for originals. If anybody has any resources I could use to get a new one, that would be greatly appreciated. -

One of the Muster Rolls to show what his service number is, which is 1079023 Here's his Marine Corps Muster Rolls. He had a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 1811 which is a Tank Crewman I believe. Marine Corps Muster Rolls - Charles J McLaughlin.pdf -

Usually im pretty good at distinguishing between repro covers and originals. But lately ive noticed repros have been getting better and this one has honestly stumped me. Its actually just one aspect of the cover. Stitching, double-weave stitches, pacman, saw-tooth on the flaps, background color on the green side, every box checked. Even half of the beach side looks up to par. But the other side of the beach looks a little different. The browns look a little too dark. Maybe its just me? Have shown this to a couple other collecting buddies of mine and most seem to agree its original. But I want to get more opinions. The beach side in question: Another photo of the same beach side. Browns look a little darker than usual. -
