Here is the M56 nylon experimental pouch next to the standard pouch. -

When the Army adopted the M1956 equipment, the ammunition pouches were indeed "universal". Designed to hold 6 en bloc clips for the M1 rifle, 2 magazines for the BAR or the M14 or 4 30rd clips for the M1 Carbine. The experimental M56 nylon set of equipment, which was tested in Vietnam, simply copied the ammo pouch. I've seen a lot of the Natick labs literature from the time period and have never seen a photo or reference to a nylon BAR belt. Tim -

@American Graffiti Hi American Graffiti, I came across your post about these incredible Palmer-McLellan moccasin balloon boots and wanted to reach out. I'm currently working on putting together an historically accurate WWI-period balloon flyer mannequin and a pair like this would be the absolute perfect centerpiece for the project. If they happen to still be in your collection, would you ever consider parting with them? I'd love to discuss putting together a reasonable offer for them if you're open to it. Fantastic find, and thanks for sharing these! Best, Karl -

My apologies. Should have typed: "F9F-6PD" not "F9F-5PD". -

Neat canteen, I like the " patina". Does anyone know the significance of the number to the left of the manufacturer and date? I don't believe I've ever seen an ACA canteen without a number stamped next to it. -

US Navy, enlisted uniforms are properly folded inside out. You should turn this jumper right side out, to check for any insignia. That might help date it even more accurately -

It was a “Service Uniform”, rather than a “Dress Uniform”. It was meant as a replacement for the old “Undress Blue Jumper” of pre 1975 days. It was intended as an office environment uniform. The Navy, still has a version of this uniform, except with a short sleeve khaki shirt, without tie, worn with the same black trousers and black garrison cap, also worn for work in clean environment -

' Jeep wise was gathered together mostly in the 1970's, however forum member ESCHT ( Kevin ) will attest that I did buy some original parts from him, again none of this cache he found had reproduction or fake parts, I can't recall the year. ' From memory it would have been around 1985/86. If only I could find a stash like that again..... hundreds of parts all original and many still in original boxes. The result of one mans obsession with gathering up as many Jeep parts as he could find, he started in the late 40's hunting stuff out all over the place. I met him whilst hunting for a replacement engine to go in my first Jeep . He had several but wouldn't sell anything, like most obsessive collectors he was unwilling to part with anything as he was definately going to need it at some point. My parting comment as I left was I know you probably won't, but if you ever want to sell give me a call. Out of the blue a year or so later I got a late night phone call, he wanted £6,000 for every single Jeep item that he had including his perfectly restored rolling chassis with engine and power train already done. It took a 3ton box wagon to bring everything back over 2 trips plus my car with trailer for the rolling chassis. Our house that we were buying had only cost £19,500 so £6,000 was a hefty hit back then. So started my trip down the Jeep parts and later militaria road -
