I don't know much about these but it is supposedly a Siam Amulet so Thai not Vietnamese.   So I guess this could have been worn by members of the Thai Queen Cobra or Black Panther Divisions that fought in South Vietnam.

There is an article in the 1988 April-June ASMIC Trading Post titled U.S. Navy Seal and UDT Insignia starting on page 63.  On the upper left of page 66 is a drawing of this patch with the added numeral 3 just below the tail with a tentative identification of UDT-3.  I can't post the image due to copyright issues.  The author of this article wasn't sure of this identification and felt that more than likely former members of UDT-3 might have adopted this patch as their insignia after the war by having the numeral 3 embroidered below the tail of the sea horse.  So I have been looking for one ever since and have not been able to find one.  I have come across three variants of this patch.  The first is the edge cut patch made by Gemsco (Photo 1 & 2).  The second (Photo 3 & 4) is also edge cut but the green sea horse lacks the yellow or black eye and black detail.  The third one (Photo 5 & 6) is an early flattened merrowed edged variant produced or distributed out of Florida.

Some form of corrosion?

Hi Guys. Haven't posted on here for a while, I've moved house and my collection has been in storage. Picked this up the other day. what do you guys think? Is it a Genuine ARVN helmet band or a fake. It was £21, so if it's real it's quite a find. So rare to find a nice one in the U.k. Thank you in advance.

I had to purchase this small book when I saw it on eBay as First Arizona Infantry items do not come up very often.  Upon further research I found some familiar names and places that I recognized as Sgt Yost was born in Flagstaff, AZ where I grew up.  So here is the book and the story of Sgt Yost.                                       NOTE:  Observatory Hill is now called Mars Hill and Lowell Observatory is located at the top of the hill.  Our family lived very close to the foot of Mars Hill.  Lowell Observatory is globally recognized as the site where Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh. Beyond Pluto, it is famous for providing the first evidence of the expanding universe and for mapping the Moon for the Apollo 11 mission.               NOTE:  Williams, AZ is about 32 miles west of Flagstaff, AZ.               NOTE:  Notice now the First Arizona Regiment is called the 158th Infantry.       NOTE:  The First Arizona Infantry was stationed in and around the border of Mexico in response to the raid on Columbus, NM by Pancho Villa.  Later the 158th Infantry under the 40th Division would train at Camp Kearny.  Camp Kearny was a major military base located in San Diego County, approximately 10 miles north of downtown San Diego. I don't think that is BB damage, there is no denting around the hole, a projectile would press the metal inward

It was pointed out to me that the pistol is actually a Model 2.
