DevilDan1900 Posted September 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2007 I just picked this super nice pair of uniforms off from ebay last night with a quick buy it now at 285.00. I think I did alright. They are both 1923-24 Quartermaster dated and named to USMC Corporal Clarence E Mater. According to the Marine Corps Muster Rolls, Clarence E. Mater served in the late 1920's and early 1930's at a number of different posts around the US, as well with 49th Company, 5th Marines in Matagalpa, Nicaragua in 1929. He was promoted to Corporal in 1932. Anybody out there who has access to any USMC records, I would love to find out more about his service record. The green tunic appears to be one of the Quartermaster Depot altered M1917s, where they modified the high collar to an open collar for re-issue. cbuehler Posted September 14, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 14, 2007 You did quite well on these. They modified a lot of earlier stand collar coats to the roll collar in the late 20's. The Marine Corps never throws anything away of course! CB
teufelhunde.ret Posted September 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2007 They do appear to be a find in great condition, esp the roll collar blouse. Not many made it that weel thru the period. Any other names on it? Are the EGA's correct for the period. Now all you need is a set of period EGA's for the dress collar!!!!! s/f Darrell
