Private Joker Posted January 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2011 I recently got this blouse from a friend in Ohio (Close to PA). He picked it up in a resale shop. Upon receiving it the best I could come up with in my research was to find only one soldier named Bednar that was in Vietnam. From "The Wall" I got this info which may be this fellow because of the proximity to PA that is was found. I am not sure if it is his because this blouse has seargent first class rank insignias on the collar and Stephen Andrew Bednar was a Specialist 4. Could this be an earlier blouse of his before promotion? If anyone can get more info on this blouse I would be greatly appreciative. Longhorn92 Posted January 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2011 I'd say it's a different "Bednar." The jungle jacket you have has an EIB and the guy KIA was a combat medic; also, there's a current style Air Assault Badge, which was non-existent during Vietnam. Lastly, your "Bednar" was an E4 when he was KIA; this guy is an E7. It isn't unusual to find jungles being worn into the late 80's by some units. Hope that helps. hawkdriver Posted January 20, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2011 As stated by Longhorn, these uniforms were worn all the way into the 80's. You could buy a pair in the clothing sales for $8 and they were all Vietnam contract dated. Looking at the name tags and other patches, I would lay my money that this uniform is one of those later worn uniforms.
