Saw this on a documentary. Homemade BM armband on a bandage? He also has signal flags tucked in the back of his belt or pants . He was directing the loading on wounded marines off of Bougainville.

Here's  Brassard for you, a locally awarded one for "Super Jock",  one awarded for maxing a PT test at the Fort Leonard Wood Engineer Center and School AIT course, perhaps the final PT test for graduating from AIT. The GI wearing it is my old friend Mike Brightbill (posted a topic earlier on, on his Father who was a Tank Crewman in Korea in 1950-51).

I became friends with him in late 78, and he went in a bit after I did, me September 1979 ,he goes in June 1980 with another friend who went Infantry, Mike went Engineers. the photo should then date to say around September 80. I talked to him on the brassard, and he told me what it was for, but was hazy with his memory on it if it was a training brigade award, or battalion, or school type, one thing I forgot to ask, if he got to keep the brassard.

Has some moth nips. The armband is used with a simple safety pin:

Here's an interesting Armband, the early Light Blue Infantry School with White Border being worn on it, note how he wears the now familiar Dark Blue Infantry School shoulder patch, this Armband with this earlier patch must duty one, despite the redundancy of the sight of the two albeit different colored patches. Photo will date from sometime in 1952 till late 1953-early 1954 by virtue of the NAME Tape being worn over the left pocket, and the M1951 Stripes there, which really start to be seen in 1952,

Some really nice armbands!

I'm curious about the significance this armband I picked up last September. Looks like WW1 era to me?

I’ve seen CQ armbands before, sgtdorango, but as I recall they didn’t have the Company letter listed, just”CQ”, and were white letters on black cloth.

This is what makes armbands so interesting: there are many, many variations.

Recruiter for the National Army Divisions that start to be formed in 1917?? True these divisions took in the bulk of the Draftees, but maybe they also had a Recruiting  drive as well??

Is this typical for rank to be on an arm band?
This is ww2 time frame, correct?

Your armband was used for an Acting position. Although in use since at least WWII, they were also used into at least the mid-1960’s in Army basic training companies.

The only Acting rank armbands I’ve seen are for Corporals (E-4) and Sergeants (E-5).
