67Rally Posted January 26, 2011 Share #27 Posted January 26, 2011 The USS Long Beach UIM is a commercially made one. These were made in the early 1980s just after the jumper style uniform was resurected. Commands went out and had UIMs made before the Navy could get them made up and sent out. Unfortunately, many commands had the hull number incorrectly added to the patch. Some commands even had UIMs made that were blue lettering on white. Steve Hesson When we arrived at our homeport for the first time (newly commissioned), we breasted outboard of CGN-9 at pier 9, NASNI. I remember that everyone had the UIM with the hull number. I always thought that it looked nice.
