Michael J. Matzer Posted January 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2011 Hi all, I would like to introduce you the Tommy & Yankee association from Pilsen, Czech Republic. We’re small group of guys interested in military history, mainly focused on the British and American army in WW2. Our British section portrays members of Durham Light Infantry and 1st SAS. But I will further speak only of our US section. Our group was put together 3 years ago and we decided to portray 2nd Infantry Division, 9th inf. regiment. The biggest reason was that this unit liberated our city. But we also portray some more infantry units. So far we participate only on few public battles. Most of our activity is on military displays and our own maneuvers. Our aim is to display US GIs in proper way. We’re in touch with some 2nd division vets and some of them still visit Czech Republic on Liberation festival in May every year. They say they’re more popular here in CR than in USA Our plan in the future is to be able to display most of infantry unit of ww2 and also some special units as well. Here is link to our facebook page. You can browse it without joining if interested. http://www.facebook.com/pages/KVH-Tommy-Ya...37896722?v=wall We have official website as well but it’s not finished and translated into English yet so sorry for that. hbtcoveralls Posted January 3, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 3, 2011 Your photos are fantastic. I was in Pilsen back in May of 2010, for the liberation celebration, with the second armored in Europe portraying the 16th Armored division. I was very impressed by the realistic displays and by the warmth of the people of Pilsen and the Czech Republic. I will always cherish my time in Pilsen, and I hope to return someday. Thank you for representing our US Army so well and with so much passion. Tom Bowers

audacia cum prudentia Posted February 11, 2014 Share #17 Posted February 11, 2014 So good to see that you have the maturity to adopt the : " Right unit, right time, right place " ethos and re-patched as 16th Armored in 16th armored vehicles www.2ndarmoredineurope.co.uk
