I would like to see if any of you guys have a good source for me to research my grandfathers job during the war. He was near Rome and worked as a firefighter at the airfield. All I can remember is they flew B-24's. I'd like to know the airfield name. Any help would be great.

Try googling USAAF Firefighting units WW-2 , I know I saw a web site about them one time , also try the 98th BG for site pages .

I have the 98th based at these places in order of first to last overseas,

Ramat David-Palestine,Fayid-Egypt,Benina-Libya,Hergla-Tunisia,Brindisi-Italy,Manduria-Italy,Lecce-Italy
