REPRO USMC long drop M1911 Holster and M1910 Garrison Belt

Recommended Posts

A question to some of the holster and M1911 gurus out there. What do you make of this rig I just picked up? Has anyone ever encountered one like it before with USMC markings? Looks like a leather version of the M1910 garrison belt and what appears to be one of the early long drop holsters for the colt M1911. Any opinions??

In my opinion, the whole outfit is a new made rig.

There are no doubts, it's a today repro. Ads for that rig appeared on ebay days ago. Even if that holster would be perfectly 90 years aged, there is a particular peculiar to all repros, the round stitching below the trigger guard. The radius id too small. I cannot understand why they dont make the correct radius, but maybe it's a warning for collectors.

I gotta agree with Robin and Artu. It is a modern reproduction rig, with many small details incorrect.

Is that stitching around the outer edge of the holster flap? This is seen only on WW2 and later General Officers M1916 holsters. Hard to see in the ebay pic.

Ebay is now riddled with many outright fakes and reproductions which makes buying holsters there a chancey proposition if one is not forearmed with the necessary information. Fortunately, most of these are pretty easy to detect. If you have any questions post them here or send an email to me or the other holster nuts for an opinion.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

Charlie

I believe these were made by "El Paso Saddlery."

They also offered a USN version, along with the standard US and officer's eagle. I don't believe they offer them anymore.
