Filthy Posted December 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2010 Hi all, As my group organizes this event, I will start the first topic. The next walk will be on the Sunday 20th of March 2011. It will be our third walk. The idea of the walk was to collect money to pay the trip back to a Veteran. Last March, we made it and we had Curtis Gadd (D/513th PIR) and his wife for a week. Not sure we will have a Veteran this year, but we will try. For the 2011 walk, we want to walk on the paths of the 194th GIR. We will leave Flamièrge and go south towards Houmont. On the way, we will pass through an interesting spot in the Bois des Valets (North-West of Bois de Fragotte). We found a lot of foxholes (maybe a hundred or more, many still deep). In that wood was the 1st Bn of the 513th PIR from January 3 to 8, 1945. At Houmont, we will make a halt. In the 'remains' of the church is a stained glass for the C/194 and a little marker as well. At Houmont was the 194th CP. Then, we will walk following the several attacks of the 194 towards Flamièrge, their initial objective, across Renuamont area and hill 510. The 194th finally took Flamièrge on January 13. In total, the walk is about 15 km, some part on road, other on path and a part through a forest.
