Jeffery Hunter stars and the movie is about him being raised by a Japanese family and the when the war broke out he joined the Marines and fought in the war in the Pacific and became a hero having captured a Japanese General and his men on Saipan I believe. Guy Gabaldon was a Marine, was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions, and lived for a time,after the war, on Saipan. There's a lot more facts, very interesting.
