artu44 Posted December 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2010 Who did it?
usmcski Posted December 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2010 That would be the "Stinger" ANM2 .30 caliber machine gun, used on Iwo Jima. Cut-down M1 Garand stock, BAR bipod, and an aircraft-mounted machine gun that proved to be lighter and have a higher rate of fire than the standard .30 cal machine gun. Cpl Tony Stein, with the 28th Marine Regiment, was a toolmaker from Dayton Ohio, and cannibalized a machine gun from an aircraft to come up with the weapon. Stein was killed on Iwo Jima and received a posthumous Medal of Honor. Semper, Ski
