Bluehawk Posted November 30, 2010 #1 Posted November 30, 2010 I'd like to get some increased understanding of when leather/leatherette name tapes started and stopped appearing on USAF BDU or other similar fatigue/utility uniforms officially, if possible, and what became of them etc. I know they've been in use on flight jackets and flight suits for quite awhile, but someone brought up their having been used on fatigue-type garb. m1ashooter Posted November 30, 2010 #2 Posted November 30, 2010 Don't know the exact date but I beleive it was a McPeak ism shortly after Desert Storm. We were told it was to enable you to turn in your BDU's for cleaning and get issued someone elses and all you had to do was slap the leather name badge on them and you were good to go.

Randy Posted December 1, 2010 #4 Posted December 1, 2010 Thank you... that's a help. I think it was 92-95. The pics I have of me wearing it span only that time frame. By 95 I was back with the traditional set-up, complete with patches. Randy
