Experimental U.S. Helmet

Had a chance to buy this today, but as it was kinda a chunk 'o money I'd like ideas as to it's real worth?

 

Anyone have an idea? Thanks for the guesses but they won't help. Post if you REALLY know.

 

I think it's a exp 5 or 5a?

Ya know, I don't think I've ever seen one of these on an actual noggin. Are there any photos of it being worn? As neat as they are, they look like they would really be ungainly and unbalanced to wear?

While I have the opportunity to buy it, they are VERY expensive and would rather invest that kinda dough on a nice medic or paratrooper lid. Someone here is who I was thinking of.
