What do you think of this bayonet? Looks like a good one to me?

Anyone who would like to give his opinion about this blade?

Thanks in advance!

Excuse me for responding so late. I thought I'd already answered here.

Thank you all for the replies. I was able to buy this bayonet an add it to my collection.

I still have one question: how can I see if the scabbard has been a reused M3 scabbard?

I thought I had read something about some sort of stamping?

Thanks again! :smokin:

You can tell if it is a reused M3 by the crimping of the metal where it meets the plastic . Your pictures show this scabbard was originally a M3. Also if a notch is present at that point then it was manufactured as a M7 scabbard.

Thank you for the replies and the pics! I'd already noticed that some scabbards had notches and some not,

but never linked it to cut down M3 scabbards.

Thanks again ;)

Very nice bayonet, you have Rutger!!!

After looking this thread i got a question:

I would like to know if the WW2 period of production M3 scabbards of U.C. (Utica Cutlery) for the M1 Garand Bayonet

have that green paint covering the the U.S. and the flaming bomb mark (On the upper part of the body of the scabbard, between the throat and the body). I'm a little concearn about that. I usually don't see that on others from that period. That kind of paint is normal?? It indicates a post-war production??? (if thats the case, which period then????). I hope you could help me on that question.

Regards

Did you ever buy this Bayo?

Sorry for the late response (for a while I wasn't able to reach the website); yes, it's still in my collection.
