ww2vault Posted August 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi, I tried to search this forum for any other aviation helmet postings but nothing matched what I found for sale. It's a Army Air Corp pilot helmet but thats about all I know about it. Any information about the type of helmet would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Jeff

Charlie Flick Posted August 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 24, 2007 Jeff: I don't have my reference materials handy here, but the helmet appears to be a version of the USAF (not AAC) P-4 jet pilot helmet. These were used in the 1950s and early '60s. There is a data tag inside the helmet that should give you the exact model number. There were many variations of the P-4, as I recall, with and without visors, etc. I think they were made by Gentex and maybe other suppliers as well. Your helmet appears to be fire damaged. Plane crash or just a bar-be-que gone bad? Hope this helps. Charlie
