patches Posted August 20, 2016 Share #601 Posted August 20, 2016 Nice one Lawdog. Isn't interesting how he wears a white Cross on the helmet, White medical tape we imagine. Seen by itself in a collection, one's first instinct would be it was Medical Corps related or maybe Chaplain related

Philippines Here's an official Army Brief from the Armored School Fort Knox Kentucky of 7 March 1948 on the 4th Cav Grp in WWII from D-Day to Saint Lo, McCauley is mentioned on page 10. http://www.benning.army.mil/library/content/Virtual/Armorpapers/NormanBrooks%20O.%20MAJ.pdf And on the Battle of Bogheim, say Troop C commander wounded, did he DOW? http://lbha.proboards.com/thread/4582/bogheim He indeed Died of Wounds. But curiously says 2 December 1944, a bit before Bogheim.

Dorsey Posted October 31, 2016 Share #605 Posted October 31, 2016 This picture was in the Tulsa World in late 1945 and was part of an article about my grandmother and her 5 sons who all served during the war and returned home safely. The boy on the right refused to ever wear his Navy uniform after his discharge. Can anyone tell me what specific uniforms are shown. Starting from the left, the first boy was in Iran, we think the second was in an aviator training program in Tulsa, the third was a navigator and the one on the right was in the 744th Light Tank Bn. Appreciate any help on the uniforms.

jmpmstr Posted December 13, 2016 Share #609 Posted December 13, 2016 My grandfather Elliott Harrocks, unit unknown at the time. I love this photo because it's tied to the painting done by his buddy at the VA Hospital. He was stricken with polio and paralyzed for life so my childhood sundays were spent there visiting him. He had friends from the Spanish American War to Korea and I got to meet them all. His friend took some artistic license and painted him as a LT, part of the charm of the painting. Regardless, he's still my hero.

Blu1989 Posted December 27, 2016 Share #613 Posted December 27, 2016 Here's some photos of my grandfather Frank Urbanitch after he joined the Coast Guard during the war. He was stationed on the Puxahatchee River near Jupiter, Florida. I was surprised he ever handled a weapon in the Coast Guard let alone a Tommy gun so these photos are interesting.
