bigredone Posted August 28, 2008 Share #228 Posted August 28, 2008 I don't even know who this guy is, some granduncle... Anyway, what's with the dimples in the visor cap. I've seen that in other pics. No wire reinforcements and the dimples are always in the same place. Is it an old army tradition, like the montana peak? Teamski Posted September 9, 2008 Share #244 Posted September 9, 2008 Unbelievably, I have next to no real photos of soldiers in all of my travels! I did find this original photo of MG Ralph Pennell, CC of the 27th Inf Div (Nov 1941-Oct 1942). Looks like the General got well and trully Layed upon arrival of the division to Hawaii in May 1942. -Ski

cthomas Posted September 12, 2008 Share #246 Posted September 12, 2008 Here's a really neat image of a combat weary GI posing in his helmet & jacket. The helmet has some type of finish to it that might be a real basic form of cammo. It could be that or just some dirt. Image is printed on German Agfa postcard paper. You really don't see many of these type images around.

ww2vault Posted September 21, 2008 Share #248 Posted September 21, 2008 Here is a picture of Ernest Hackett. He of course was in the 5th AAF and served at Port Moresby, New Guinea with a fighter squadron. I also have the uniform that he is wearing in the photo. P.S. I really think this thread should be pinned in this topic. It would be great for people to view and also would make a nice reference for uniforms that are pictured in the photos. - Jeff
