Working on my Dads display and am looking for info as to how many battle stars he was awarded for his ribbons.

He served on the Show Boat from 11 May 1945 till late 1946. I have searched the web, I guess I'm not looking in the right place. I don't get to this thread to often would you send me a PM. Thanks for any help. Michael

If your father was aboard from 11 May 1945, he would have been entitled to wear two (2) battle stars on his Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon.

Thank you very much, That is the info I was looking for. Every time I start to work on the display, I find that I have more questions. Just wanting to get it right the first time.

Do you know anything about White Seal Whiskey? I remember my Dad talking about it from the time he was in, I have a little white seal with a red ball on it's nose.

In case you are not aware, Turner Publishing put out a book USS NORTH CAROLINA BB-55 in 1998. It's a nice book with a chronological account of her wartime activities, a complete list of crew 1941-47, and some individual bios. It's only 112 pages but well done.
