I'm looking for some circa 1987-1988 MREs to include the Arctic MREs from the same time frame (white bag with orange band.) I'm looking for these for display purposes and not to eat (obviously.)

Thanks

the white bag with orange band was made by cincinnati company in 1990.

they are real hard to come by now,the orange band was only used by them in 1990.

to match the 1987-88 dark brown bag mre you will need the 1982 ration cold weather made by rafco company.

Wow, you know your MREs! Many thanks for all the help. I'm on the hunt for a 1986-1990 "Ration, Cold Weather" If you don't mind me asking, what do I need to look for as far as packaging?

Thanks,

Don

here are a picture of the 1989 rcw

IM000951.jpg

they where the first run of the ration cold weather.

here is a picture of the 3rd batch of rcw made in 1992

IM000954.jpg

i dont have any pictures of the 1990 cincinatti rcw with the orange rubber band that was the 2nd run

ration cold weather.

but 2nd and 3rd run of rcw are 99% close to eac other.

when it comes to the brown bag mres its harder to tell what year, main thing is if the large

numbers on the side of the mre is missing you have a mre from 1981 to 1987.

from 1988 the big menu numbers on the side was added.

and another know how is to check the menues on the mres, since there was menues that was

only found in some special years

hope it help you in the search.

That really helps and thanks again. I've already got enough of the 1981 and 1986 regular MREs and you're right, the best way to tell those apart is the actual contents of the meals.

I'll have to post a request on MREinfo.com to try and find one of the first run RCWs.
