Camp_Kearny Posted November 12, 2010 Share #79 Posted November 12, 2010 This is from a 475th grouping i have the photo is marked as MY FIGHTING HOLE ON HILL 19 gives an overall picture of a Marsman in combat Note trench knife, jungle 1st aid pack and machete Great photo, I could be wrong but it looks like a No 36 Mills bomb attached to the belt. Interesting that US soldiers would carry British grenades, but I suppose it makes sense in Burma.

HoovieDude Posted November 12, 2010 Share #81 Posted November 12, 2010 Sure looks like it to me too. Good catch. I know of one Brit unit who were kitted up with GI leggings and Carbines, so I don't think it too far fetched for it to be somewhat more common to see the sharing of some resources? Especially with what I have always seen as more of a joint operation than anywhere else in the conflict. Outside of the 1st SSF anyway.
MPage Posted November 13, 2010 Share #82 Posted November 13, 2010 Do you have any idea what type boot the man on the left is wearing. I can't determine if that is a 2 buckle set of leggings or some sort of 2 buckle boots. Those are three-buckle M1940 boots.

TLJ585 Posted July 18, 2012 Share #90 Posted July 18, 2012 I have some of the same photos, mine are in an album, several are notated mainly 2nd/475th Infantry There must have been one person in the unit with a camera and shared the photos with everyone else. The ones I have no information on them. I have around 150 photos everything from soldiers out in the field to shots in the city. Who owned your album? My uncle was Sheridan H Brothers he served in the 5307th from June until August 44 and then became part of the 475th.
