roadrunner Posted October 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2010 Hallo I need some help. A friend from Switzerland is interested in this patches. I have them for a long time but don´t know, are they WW2? What is the value? I like the top right patch, looks different then the patches from WW2 I know. Do you have any information about this? Thanks for your help. Michael

sigma9r Posted October 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2010 There's a question on some Wiki site that asks a question about USMC patches. When did they stop wearing them? I know the Army allows patches like these for wear as "combat patches" but what's the real deal? As far as these patches, they look like early VN era; not quite WWII, however I've never seen the snake in the GuadalCanal.
BILL THE PATCH Posted October 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2010 they are all ww2 era made. the top left hand corner is a german made varient. the snake is the "unofficial 2nd usmc div. and the top right is a 1st usmc div but emb on twill material. same as the left but made differant. the usmc did away with wearing shoulder sleeve patches in 1948. they wanted to be identified as one unit not serperate units. sigma9r Posted October 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2010 Bill, Thanks for the info! My boss, a blustry retired Gunny, refers to the Army patches as "Bling"! I never had a come-back because I didn't know when the USMC stopped wearing patches. Thanks, Wiley

roadrunner Posted October 8, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted October 8, 2010 Any idea of the value? I´ve seen patches sold for high prices, and I won´t trade them before know a fair price. Thanks Michael
