530th bomb squadron tail markings

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I hope this is the right forum for my question. If not, my apologies.

It has been some time since I (encouraged by Ian’s beautiful art work) started painting some squadron patches during rainy weekends.

Now that I am starting to get more confident with paint and brush, I am considering painting some nose art on my repro A2.

I have a patch of the 530th bomb squadron on the chest so I think maybe the monkey from the tail markings of the 530th would look nice on the back.

I found some images of the tail markings on the website of the 380th Bomb Group Association and made a “print screen” of a

, but as you can see these don’t show much detail.

Can someone maybe post (or PM if they are large files) some more detailed pictures (preferably in colour) or are there maybe other resources you can recommend?

Cheers!!

What few photos I've ever seen and art works in books , they all appear to be just basic looking stencils that were used to put them on the B-24's tails, the photo you posted second one down is the best I've seen so far of the "monkey"

Try posting you inquriry on these sites, good luck ! Johnny
