Also, slightly off topic but you all would probably love what I am working on right now.

Since February I have been writing a book about a the entirety of the development and use of the PASGT helmet and it’s wide variety of accessories. It’s up to 70+ pages with some 38k characters and I’m not even halfway done.

If anyone would like to know more on it or help provide photos of stuff I haven’t gotten my hands on, let me know :)

To date the cover you would need to look at the stamp printed on the inside. For example, this image below shows DLA-100-90-F-EF74 for this helmet cover. The "90" means that this helmet cover was produced under a 1990 contract. However, that only serves as an approximate date as the cover may have been produced in 1991. I'd be interested in knowing what yours is since that looks like a pretty unique cover.

Pre-GWOT Kevlar with cat eyes on cover for A Co, 2nd Bn, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis, WA. Has battle roster number taped on the inside as well.

I am a bit new to the 1980s-1990s era equipment, and I want to get a PASGT helmet for my Desert Storm impression. What are some good things to know and what to keep in mind?

I just went with a pre-1991 dated shell and cover.

Look for an Early to Mid 80’s production helmet. The Sweatband should have the metal clips with the loops, not the revised type from 1992 or the Velcro type from 1998.

Your helmet cover should have the foliage slits. The type without slits didn’t see use in the Gulf War.

I got a size Large 1989 PASGT helmet a few days ago, and have a chocolate chip cover in the right size and with slits I plan on ordering soon. Could you tell me if it’s good?D006E2A6-A678-4A88-A0A3-269B2EF4C3BD.jpeg.bd441765d25df1be3d30d9fbb8d997e3.jpeg69199FB9-94F4-43FB-B404-A6710C459A0B.jpeg.e676888bcb74aac2411fff7962bfb106.jpeg4A949EA9-864B-4C34-9464-7DC24AEC113A.jpeg.cc32701393e1bd5e9007b086f1e92f2c.jpeg

Issued to me in 93 and worn in Haiti uphold democracy, 94-95… and carried around the world after that but never really worn.. except in Haiti… the Army required us Air Force types to wear one when driving off Port Au Prince airport…

I'm going to toss this up here, might get slapped. I just picked up two woodland PASGT covers, with 3rd ID INF patches on both sides. Stamped DRMO's in the crowns. Fir your viewing and possible interest.

1. SGT rank, Medium, I think it says 100-94...

2. SPC rank, Size and date, too washed out to read.

Not faded, worn, some scuffs on the tops as where they would be tossed or dropped.

I was going to ss them up on that other site, but if someone's hot for one, $10 ea. PM me.

Another recent addition to my collection:

Another Experimental PASGT Helmet. This time it’s been used for ballistic tests.3D5CC6DE-6BD5-49B5-A8F8-1C32D7AC856C.jpeg.d96704b7a7f2578d22f7079af60ce2d6.jpeg

It has been shot 6 times and has a hole drilled in the top. I presume the hole was to mount it to a stand. It also has two white lines around the outer and inner circumference.

Normally on these the inside is painted a Brown color. This one seems to have been painted black to better contrast the material failure.

Here it is with my other prototype, which is just an unfinished shell.

I may be wrong but that looks like the 88th division insignia?

Currently, it is the 88th Readiness Division of the US Army Reserve.

Here's another one. I'm glad you liked the M81 helmet, it's huge compared to this size small with the Chocolate Chip camo.

I think it has Arabic writing on the sweat band. Also, no manufacturer date. Looks like a Unicor? Just a circle with a 5 in it. S-2. What does the -# indicate?

That cover fits flawlessly one that PASGT, the writing is interesting.

If you look at the edges, it is sewn down in a few spots to the liner band to keep it tight.
