teufelhunde.ret Posted August 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2007 Came w/ purchase of EGA... have no idea what these are? Are they worth something or a throw away. Thanks, s/f Darrell

atb Posted August 12, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2007 I think all of your ribbons are Merchant Marine items and probably go with the Merchant Marine USNR badge. I think that badge was worn by Merchant Marine officers who held commissions in the Naval Reserve. Just curious, is everything you are unfamiliar with "strange" for some reason?" Also, why would they be "throw away" if not of any perceived monetary value? I trust you would not actually throw them away.
collectsmedals Posted August 12, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2007 While the two right hand ribbons do resemble Merchant Marine ribbons they do not match any of the ones I know of. My guess would be some sort of state guard ribbons. I know I have seen the one on the left, but I can't remember what it is.
atb Posted August 12, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 12, 2007 Left to right-- Merchant Marine Combat Bar/Possibly an Atlantic War Zone ribbon variation/Merchant Marine WW2 Victory Medal
collectsmedals Posted August 13, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 13, 2007 I could be a Merchant Marine World War II Victory Medal ribbon, but the center red stripe should be wider and the two brown stripes should be green. Like I said, similar but not exact.
Dave Posted August 13, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 13, 2007 They are Merchant Marine: 1st - Combat Bar with star 2nd - Atlantic War Zone 3rd - WW2 Victory Medal I've found a huge variance with MM ribbons over the years. Seems that contractors couldn't quite figure out the "spec" colors for some reason. Dave
