Jason G Posted September 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2010 Certainly pre 1942 vintage. My 'gut' tells me 1920's/30's based on the way the diamond is sewn. Nice chevron!~
Lee Ragan Posted September 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 15, 2010 1920-1942. From the looks of that one, I'd say it's probably sometime around 1930 or even earlier. The 5 stripe First Shirt was only used for 22 years, so it could have been worn anytime during that period.
zljones Posted September 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2010 I agree definately not pre 1920 because I have some WW1 patches and I seen alot of WW1 but this is definatley pre WW2. My guess is probably early 20s. I have some late 1930s patches too and those are different.
blkjack07 Posted September 16, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2010 I agree definately not pre 1920... but this is definatley pre WW2... First Sergeant chevrons with three "rockers" were authorized in September 1942, so the two-rocker ones were worn into WWII. From 1902 to 1920, the First Sergeant chevron had no rockers, like this one previously posted by hhbooker2 on this forum.
