Dirk Posted August 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2007 All: Here is a detail from a group of Span Am era Marines. Sadly the image is undated and a part from the M1897 hats and the uniforms, all I can do is place this image between 1898 and 1904...but I was hoping someone might ID this type of belt and narrow down my search....or maybe by EGA any ideas? I'll also post in the equipment section. Thanks
usmchistorian Posted December 1, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 1, 2013 It's for the Krag rifle. You can see the bayonet on his left hip. Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like it could be a double row loop variant. This should put the photo post Span Am. The Marines dumped the Winchester-Lee and went with the Krag up through till 1911. The '03 wasn't issued en mass and depending on your duty location, you were probably still using the Krag.
