Marine Corps Mills Belt

Recommended Posts

All: Here is a detail from a group of Span Am era Marines. Sadly the image is undated and a part from the M1897 hats and the uniforms, all I can do is place this image between 1898 and 1904...but I was hoping someone might ID this type of belt and narrow down my search....any ideas? I'll also post in the uniform section. Thanks

I believe the belt is an 1894 Mills, but I can't tell from the photo if it is a double loop or single loop belt. I have a reprint of the Mills catalog that I will check out tonight when I get home from work.

Agree with the other comments, you have a great Marine photo collection! thumbsup.gif

Schnicklfritz: Thanks for the comments and the possible ID on the belt...I look forward to seeing what you find. Would this belt go with the Krag or another weapon? Dirk

Charlie: Thanks! the next question is when did the Marines adopt the krag? Same time as the Navy Lee or after? Hopefully someone got that one in their files.
