Unknown Army Chevron

Got this in a group of patches, but searched and searched and can't find any info on it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas on what it is and what era? Thanks.

My best guess is that this is an unofficial piece with a probable link to a QM/ Transporation unit...for obvious reasons! It's reminiscent of the unofficial USAAF stripes which feature a winged-prop motif.

Thanks for the quick reply. Those were my thoughts too. Have seen many of the Air Corps chevrons you refer too, but never the wagon wheel.

Absolutely....yours is the first I've ever seen! Very interesting. Do you have a matched-pair or just a single?

The wheel is similar to the pre-1920 insignia for wagoner, the embroidery style is common for the 1920s and '30s. My best guess is an unofficial insignia for someone in a wagoner position or something similar, probably in a cavalry, artillery or transport unit.

Yeah, the closest I could find was wagoneer, but it wasn't in chevron form. I agree with you and Sabrejet that it was probably an unofficial chevron.
