disneydave Posted August 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2007 Here is a 64-page softcover publication detailing the Division's training before deployment to the European Theater of Operations. The back cover features Peg Leg Pete barking out orders to Donald Duck, who is painting a shell casing, which carries over to the front cover. Peg Leg Pete was often portrayed in Donald Duck war cartoons as the "tough as nails" drill Sergeant. The Eleventh landed at the port of Cherbourg, France in late 1944 and were immediately pressed into battle to help counter the German offensive that became known as the Battle of the Bulge. The Eleventh later breached the Siegfried Line, crossed the Rhine River and ended the war in Austria. This particular booklet belonged to a Private, who made india ink captions under some of the booklet's photographs.
